The 'performance of something is a rating or measure its benchmark or status of reliability, usually relating to a computer system, engineered object. Performance standards can be useful for anything that is designed or has a function.

Network performance can be hampered by bottlenecks, lag, latency, noise, attacks, spyware, a virus, bugs, and other errors.

Performance can be monitored by audits and inspections. Over time statistics can be collected and downtime can be minimized.
